Frequenty Asked Questions
CBD stands for Cannabidiol, which is a naturally occurring non-psychoactive (meaning it does not produce any mind-altering effects) cannabinoid found in the hemp plant, cannabis sativa. CBD comprises up to 44% of cannabis sativa and is one of over 100 active cannabinoids contained in the plant. CBD is fast becoming the most researched and studied cannabinoid due to its well-known therapeutic effects. THC is probably the most famous compound in hemp for the high it causes, but CBD does not bind with receptors in your brain that get you high like THC does, so you get the wide range of benefits that CBD is known for, without the high.
CBD itself contains a variety of natural cannabinoids that interact with our bodies via the endocannabinoid system, a part of our central nervous system which helps keep us in homeostasis. Homeostasis is an internal state of equilibrium that allows for optimal functioning of our bodies, which in turn helps stave off disease. Our endocannabinoid system (ECS) helps regulate everything from pain and inflammation to anxiety and sleeplessness.
Full-spectrum refers to CBD that contains all the cannabinoids that naturally occur in the hemp plant. This also means that a miniscule amount of THC (up to 0.3%) is included, but the resulting CBD oil is non -psychoactive and 50-state legal. The main benefit to using full spectrum CBD is the “entourage effect,” which is achieved as the 100+ active cannabinoids work together to amplify the therapeutic effects CBD is known for. Because of this effect, full-spectrum CBD allows you to benefit from hemp as nature intended, with all the natural cannabinoids in the plant working together on your behalf. We specifically chose to offer full-spectrum CBD products because we believe they would be most beneficial for your health and well-being. Other types of CBD strip out these additional cannabinoids and cannot match the therapeutic effects of our pure, 100% natural and organic, full-spectrum CBD oil.
If you were to pour oil droplets into a glass of water, you would notice they do not mix. Now, apply this same concept to absorbing CBD oil into our bodies, which are made up of 60% water. That would not mix well either, and we may not be able to benefit as much from the CBD as we should. This has led to the development of water soluble CBD, which is up to 10 times more bioavailable than the more commonly found distillate CBD. The water soluble nature of our CBD helps in absorption and allows it to quickly and efficiently get into the bloodstream. When you consume typical distillate CBD oil, you are only able to absorb around 5% of the CBD, which means 95% of it is excreted out of the body. Our water-soluble nano encapsulated CBD has a much higher absorption rate and is therefore much more effective, you are actually getting the benefits you expect.
CBD does not get you high. Both THC and CBD are cannabinoids (chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant), but they act very differently when consumed. THC gets you high because it binds to a cannabinoid receptor in your brain that triggers the psychoactive effects of cannabis. CBD is different, while it is an active cannabinoid, it does not bind to the same receptors THC binds to. Instead, CBD works by regulating various molecular pathways throughout the body via the endocannabinoid system (ECS). These pathways are responsible for the anti-anxiety effects, regulating inflammation, pain perception, and appetite suppression, among many others. Simply put, CBD doesn’t get you high because it doesn’t bind to the receptors in your brain that are responsible for getting you high.
As we like to say around here, not all CBD is created equal! Because CBD itself isn’t regulated by the FDA yet, the market is largely unregulated as well. This means anyone can make CBD products and claim they’re legitimate. The problem is, not all CBD oil and CBD products are high quality, and because of this they don’t always offer the therapeutic effects CBD is known for. When purchasing any CBD products it’s extremely important to make sure third-party lab testing results are available, we provide these results for your peace of mind. Transparency is key when it comes to CBD.
Yes! And our latest lab results are available online 24/7, please visit our Lab Results page. This is the first thing to look for when purchasing any CBD product. Without a third party lab report, you really have no way of confirming what’s in a product or if it’s safe to use.
When CBD is sourced from high-quality hemp cultivated in rich soil under favorable growing conditions (like ours!), it’s considered safe and non-toxic. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) put out a report in November 2017 showing that CBD doesn’t contain any adverse health effects and is well tolerated in both animals and humans. Despite the excellent safety profile of CBD, we recommend speaking to your doctor and pharmacist before you start taking CBD as drug interactions and side effects are possible.
Yes, hemp-derived CBD that contains 0.3% or less THC is completely legal in all 50 states, that is why Lanai Hemp exclusively uses this kind of CBD. With the passage of the Farm Bill in December 2018 CBD was federally legalized throughout the United States.

For CBD oil, simply administer the oil under your tongue and hold it there for 30 seconds before swallowing so it absorbs into the bloodstream completely. This is the fastest way to get CBD into your system. There are also capsules, edibles and other methods, which are also good, but transport the CBD more slowly into your system as they pass through your digestive tract.
There isn’t a “one size fits all” dosage for CBD, and there will be some trial and error while gauging your proper dosage. As with most substances, individuals with more body mass will require more CBD to experience its effects. A good rule of thumb to determine your proper CBD dosage is to take 1–6mg of CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight based on your level of pain or other symptoms. For example, 20-120mg would be a great starting dosage for a 200 lb patient, while 15-90mg would be best for another who weighs 150 lb. We recommend a daily dose to experience the full impact of CBD.
Not necessarily. Everyone has a different individual sweet spot when it comes to CBD, which is why it’s recommended to start out with the lowest possible dose and work your way up to the amount of CBD that works for you. Keeping a journal to track your progress is a good idea and will help you pin down your sweet spot.
Anyone taking hemp-derived CBD should be aware that even the miniscule amount of THC present in any full spectrum CBD product (0.3% or less) could show up in a drug test, even though it is unlikely. Full spectrum CBD is made with the entire hemp plant and does contain trace amounts of THC. However, these trace amounts account for 0.3% or less THC, which makes our products federally 50-state legal. We also offer certain products with CBD Isolate which contain no THC whatsoever and can be an alternative to those concerned about drug testing.
Not many are aware of this but from humans to dogs and cats, we all have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) as a part of our central nervous system. This extensive network of receptors and chemicals is found throughout the entire body and helps to maintain balance and homeostasis of our vital systems. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for regulating several vital bodily functions including sleep, pain perception, mood, memory, reproduction, appetite, and inflammation. It’s believed that when the endocannabinoid system becomes depleted, it can lead to illness and disease as you are no longer in balance or homeostasis on a biological level. Research indicates, however, that taking CBD can replenish as well as generate more of our natural endocannabinoids, thus restoring balance to body and mind.
The rise in popularity of CBD over the past few years has led to a significant amount of research to back up subjective claims. There are several preclinical research studies, as well as clinical human studies that support the benefits of CBD. While more clinical studies are needed, there is an extremely wide body of scientific evidence that supports the benefits of CBD for a wide range of conditions. Due to the current popularity of CBD there are over 500 studies in progress to find out exactly how this gift of nature helps support our health and well-being.
It would be irresponsible for us to make claims that CBD could help your specific condition. There are many studies regarding CBD and various health conditions, please do your research and speak to your doctor if you have questions regarding CBD and a specific condition. What we do know is CBD has therapeutic effects across a wide range of conditions and more are being discovered all the time. We also know CBD has no known side effects on its own and is 100% natural. Please do your homework and discuss with your doctor before trying to treat any specific condition with CBD.
